Last weekend, we surprised Brayden with a trip to see/meet Thomas the Train in Spencer, NC!
We went to my parents & spent the night since they were going with us & they live about 1.5hrs closer than we do. I am so glad we did that because it was raining cats & dogs the day we went!!! Thankfully, the rain eased up in the afternoon, but it was nasty during our train ride.
We even met up with your good friends the Toomey's there for a fun filled day of trains! Our first adventure was to ride on Thomas for about 30 minutes. The boys both enjoyed this & asked to ride Thomas again! Maybe next year boys!
Then we found the museum store & the boys played at some really cool train tables.
Eventually, we were able to get Brayden & John away from the train tables to meet Sir Topham Hatt.
The NC Transportation Museum also had a Roundhouse & turntable with LOTS of train cars of all different types. There was also a building with old cars & trucks that were need to look at. The other really cool thing to do was to play with the model trains that had been set up. There were buttons to push that made the trains & other parts of the models do stuff. It was really cool to see! After exploring all of the museum, it was time to go to the Thomas Store & play area. Unfortunately, because of all of the rain earlier in the day, the play area was very wet & Brayden didn't want to play in the wet mud (thankfully!) Brayden loaded up at the store thanks to Grammy & Paw. He came home with a new truck (Madge who can haul train cars), a placemat, and a Thomas poncho. We also bought him a t-shirt.
Thanks Jane for sending us the photos you took in the nice weather and thank you Patrice for letting me steal a few photos from your blog!!
Even though I didn't get any pictures of it (I think my mom and/or Amy might have) Lilly was along for the ride & enjoyed her 1st train ride as well at only 3 weeks old! She is such a trooper & just goes with the flow so well!
