Brayden has been asking a lot of questions lately. Deep questions. Questions that I don't have the answers to. Here is a recent conversation that we had on the way home from daycare.
B: Mommy, how did the sign get made? (referring to a brick sign at the entrance to out neighborhood)
Me: Well, the workers built it out of bricks and cement
B: Well, what about the fountain? (again referring to the fountain at the entrance to our neighborhood)
Me: Well, the workers built it out of bricks and cement and pipes then they filled it with water
B: Mommy, how did the trees get built?
Me: I don't know honey. You will have to ask God that one.
B: God, how did you make the trees?
silence for about 30 seconds
B: Ok, Thank you God.
Me: What do God say?
B: He said that he told the workers to put the tree in the ground and it grew there.
Me: OK. That makes sense.
A few months ago, we had a deep (and shocking) conversation on the way home from church. Back story, some good friends of ours are in the process of trying to adopt a baby. They have 1 son already who is a little older than Brayden and they are good friends.
B: Where is John's baby? (almost all of his friends have younger siblings at this point)
Me: Well, John doesn't have a baby?
B: Why not? (how do you explain this to a 4 year old??)
Me: Well, his Mommy and Daddy really want another baby but they can't have one.
B: Why not? (again...how do you explain this to a 4 year old???)
Me: John's Mommy and Daddy are going to adopt a baby.
B: What does that mean?
Me: Another mommy will have the baby but because she can't take good care of the baby, Aunt Amy and Uncle Joe will bring the baby home to their house and the baby will be theirs. They will adopt the baby.
B: You mean like God adopted us?
Me: Shocked silence...Yes, Brayden JUST like God adopted us!
I love that he is asking these questions and stops and listens to God. Where he comes up with some of these things I don't know. But I love it!!
