2010 Snow Storm

It started snowing here around 6:30 last night and by early afternoon, we had about 5" of snow/sleet! Matt, Brayden, & I wrapped up and ventrued out this afternoon for about 10 minuets. That was all it took for Brayden's little cheeks to get bright red from the cold. It was about 24ยบ all day long and the wind was blowing, making it feel much colder than that.

Brayden seemed to enjoy being out in the snow & liked walking in the snow. He didn't care if he feel down & did not want to come back in. Unfortunately, the snow is very powdery and doesn't make good snowballs/snowmen. Last year, we 2 snows (here and here) but he was way too small to really enjoy it.

All dressed and ready to play!
Ooooo! It's cold!
We went for a short walk in the snow.
Rosy cheeks...time to go inside again.

Mr. Wuf

Last Friday night we went to the NCSU Women's basketball game with my Godmother, Rachel. The women play in Reynold's Coliseum which is a great, historic place to watch a game. The was Brayden's 3rd trip to Reynolds (see previous post). This time, Brayden got to meet Mr. Wuf and have his picture taken!! We have been seeking out Mr. Wuf for some time now and can never seem to find him. It is much easier at the Reynold's because you can walk down on the court! I was expecting Brayden to be a bit scared of Mr. Wuf, but he was OK. Maybe a little unsure, but he didn't act scared at all either.

To make the night even better, the women beat Wake Forest on a last second shot!!! It was a great game and we had a wonderful time

15 month stats

Yesterday we had Brayden's 15 month check-up. He weighed in at 21 lbs 7.5oz (that is up from 19lbs 6oz at his 12 month appointment)! He is now 29 3/4" tall as well! The Dr said that he was doing great, growing well, and developing normally! Brayden also got 3 shots yesterday at the Drs office and therefore we are home today because he has a fever. Hopefully, the fever is gone tomorrow & he can return to daycare.

He is now saying "Bye-bye" (and waving at the same time), "UH oh" with a strong emphasis on the "Uh" part, "keeeek" for kitty, and just last night he said "oooo" when asked what a cow says. Everyday he learns something new and changes! It is just amazing to watch. Brayden has started being able to follow basic commands, such as "Bring the book to Mommy" and "pick up your cup". He is climbing the stairs like a pro, but isn't quite ready to come down on his own just yet. Brayden is only drinking out of sippy cups now and is beginning to use spoons and forks. The hard part for him is actually getting the food up on the spoon/fork.

Brayden has also completely transition from 2 naps a day to 1 nap a day. He made this transition at daycare without a hitch and had done well with only 1 nap at home as well. Most nights, he is sleeping from about 7 or 7:30 - 6:30 when we wake him for daycare. On the weekends, he typically doesn't wake up until 7 so we get to "sleep in"!

Brayden has also learned how to test our patience. He knows that he is not supposed to press any of the buttons on the TV/VCR/DVD player, but LOVES to do do so. He also really likes to throw things...balls, blocks, books, anything. We are working on where, when, and what types of things can be thrown.

In general, Brayden is an easy going, happy toddler who brings so much joy & happiness to our home! It is hard to believe that 15 months has already passed since he was born!

Using Signs

Finally!!! We were sitting at dinner with my parents & Godmother on Saturday night & Brayden started signing!!! I have been trying to get him to sign for months now, so I am very excited about this :) He can do "more", "please" and "thank you" (although Thank you is really blowing a kiss, but it's close enough for me)!!!

New Year's Small Group Party

This past Saturday night, our small group had a New Year's/fiesta/Guitar Hero party. We had Moe's taco bar catered (it was a gift to someone in our group!) and played Guitar Hero. After a few margaritas and/or beers it was decided that hats were required to play Guitar Hero and then Caleb brought out the fake mustaches! Some of the group even stayed up past 2AM playing Guitar Hero!!! Crazy!!

Either way...we had a great time together as we always do!

Caleb and Adrienne - they are moving to Paupa New Guinea in 2 weeks! We are really going to miss you guys!!
Like father (above) like son!Adrienne, Chris, and Kristin rocking it out!

Happy New Year's

This year, we spent New Year's Eve with my best friend from childhood, Julie, and her family. They live way out in the country in Burlington so Matt, Brayden, and I spent the night with them. After the boys went to bed, the adults played 3 lively games of Cranium.

Growing up, our families always got together for Christmas. Julie & I exchanged gifts and we had dinner together. Julie & I decided that we needed to start the tradition up again now that we both have boys of our own. Wesley is 8.5 months old...exactly 6 months younger than Brayden to the day.
This was the best we could do...both boys were tired and did not want to sit still.
