More Food

This past week I took Brayden to the Dr for a check-up and asked the Dr about trying new food (other than cereal). I got the OK so we started with Green Beans! I am not certain that Brayden really likes them because he makes this funny face & then shutters, but he has eaten at least 1/2 of the jar in the past 3 meals, so it must not be too bad :) I have also started giving him more cereal at each sitting so he is now eating about 1/8-1/4 cup of cereal in the evening plus some green beans. On Monday, I think we will try carrots or squash!

The very first bite of Green Beans!

Not so happy about the taste!

Mixed with a little cereal...maybe it is better?

Yeah, not quite so bad with cereal.

He also weighed 13 pounds 3.5 ounces and was 24/5 inches long at his Drs appointment. He has gained 1 pound 3 ounces in about 5 weeks!

Photo Update

Things have been busy around our house the past few weeks. Brayden is VERY close to rolling over (back to stomach) and is supposedly doing this regularly at daycare, although he refuses to show us this new skill at home. He is also getting closer to sitting up on his own and sometimes sit unsupported for 1-2 seconds before face planting on the floor. Here are a few photos of Brayden to catch you up.

Can you find Brayden in all of the stuffed animals??

All of the men in Matt's family are HUGE Allman Brothers Band fans. Matt's dad, BB, gave Brayden this framed double record of one of the Allman Brothers Band albums for Christmas. It is proudly hanging in Brayden's nursery and we decided last weekend to take a picture of Brayden with it. On the very first try, we got this photos...couldn't have asked for a better shot.

The next time that BB & Uncle John are over, we will have to get a picture of all 4 Enzor men with the album!

First Real Food!!!

Brayden got his first taste of real food on Monday night! The Dr told us at his 4 month checkup to wait until he was about 5 months old (he will be 5 months on Friday) to start trying a single grain cereal.

Brayden started watching us eat, making chewing motions, & wanting to be at the table with us a few weeks ago, so we decided that he was ready & gave it a try. We started out last week by just letting him sit in the highchair while we ate dinner.

Trying out the highchair.

Then this week we moved on to actually eating. He did GREAT!! I fixed about 1/2 tbsp to start with & he ate most of it. Most of it actually went & stayed in his mouth! Tuesday & Wednesday nights he had 1 tbsp & again did great! There are 2 problems though: 1)I can never seem to get the consistency of the cereal right...too runny or too thick. Any advice? 2) Brayden is so small that he barely fits in the highchair...we have to put a blanket in the seat to raise him up enough to see over the tray.

In a few weeks, we will move on to Stage 1 fruits & veggies!

1st Beach Trip

This past weekend we went to the beach to visit Oma, Opa, Aunt Lynn, Uncle Sandy, & the rest of the gang. Unfortunately, it was way too nasty outside to take Brayden out onto the beach. Matt & I took advantage of the many extra sets of hands & went to the outlet mall by ourselves --- much quicker trip than if we had had Brayden with us.

Regardless of the yucky weather, we had a great time watching the ACC tournament together & just hanging out! Sid, Brayden's cousin who is about 2 weeks shy of being 1 year older than Brayden, was also there. Sid was so sweet with Brayden sharing his toys & playing gently with him. Brayden really enjoyed watching Sid run around the house. It will be great fun to watch them grow up together like their dads did!

Brayden was really congested & coughing a lot at night so I put a pillow under the mattress of the pack-n-play to elevate it!

Happy Birthday Mommy!!

Today I turned old. Not that I think 30 is old, because it isn't, but there is something about going from "20 something" to "30 something" that makes me feel older. Usually, I don't feel any older on my birthday, but today has been different. Maybe it is because now I have a baby of my own & when I think back to when I turned 20, I was a sophomore in college. All I had to worry about then was grades & what to eat for dinner.

Anyway, I had a GREAT day! Brayden & Matt gave me cards this morning & TONS of friends on Facebook wished me Happy Birthday. We spent the weekend in Albemarle with my parents & got to see lots of friends. My best from growing up, Julie, is expecting her first little boy in a few weeks. Her baby shower was on Saturday so my mom, Brayden & I all went to that. We had a great time catching up with everyone.

Then on Sunday, my 2 best friends from high school, Renee & Susan came over. Renee's little boy, Hayden, kept us all entertained! Now I really see what we have to look forward to in a 2 years!

My grandmother (Buh) also came up to visit for my birthday on Sunday.

Look at that cute face!

We had a really great weekend with friends & family!

Snow: Round 2

It snowed again today! We only got 1.5-2" at our house this time, but Duke was on Adverse Weather so I didn't have to go to work! Brayden & I spent the morning playing & then went outside for a little while this afternoon. Since this was a great "packing" snow, we decided to try to build a snowman. Here are the results:

Brayden was not too happy being all bundled up in the snowsuit plus being in the car seat, but I didn't know what else to do with him while I was in the snow.
