Christmas at the beach

On Saturday afternoon, we headed to Sunset Beach to have Christmas with the rest of Matt's family. We saw Ron, Mamie, Sid (2), Will Charity, Lynn, Sandy, Oma, and Opa on Saturday night.

Sid was so sweet sharing his motorcycle with Brayden. Oma is holding Brayden on the back!

Too sweet!!
I think they are going to be trouble in a few years...
Just like their dads! We played Dirty Santa and the t-shirts were Ron & Matt's gifts!

Christmas with the Enzors and Humphreys

On Christmas afternoon, we traveled to Buies Creek to celebrate Christmas with Matt's family. Brayden had a great time hanging out with Nanna, BB, Uncle John, and Aunt Dana!

Christmas with the Holbrooks

Christmas at our house in Raleigh: I have been getting the Willowtree Nativity Scene for several years now and finally have everything, including the manger that my dad built for my birthday!

Brayden trying to decide if he should touch the tree or not...for the first 3 weeks it was up, he was scared of it and finally last weekend decided that he should start messing with the tree.
We started our Christmas by traveling to my parents house on Dec 23. Shelli traveled all the way from California to meet Brayden for the first time!
We spent Christmas Eve hanging out with my parents, Santa, and the cats.

and then went to Christmas Eve service at First Lutheran Church. After church, we had dinner and laid out cookies and milk for Santa. Brayden couldn't decide which of the 3 types of cookie he wanted to leave Santa so he left one of each!

On Christmas morning, Brayden woke to find that Santa had come to visit.

Brayden's First Haircut!!!

I really didn't want to get Brayden's hair cut. He had these really cute curls in the back and long bangs that swept to the side. But it was time. When he gets tired, somehow the long sides get pulled to the front and then he looks like a baby Elvis, plus there is the problem of food always getting in his hair. So it was time. I was ready.

Last weekend we went to Snip-Its. I kid friendly hair salon place near our house. When we got there, 2 kids were in front of us. The lady said it would be about 45 minutes. So I put our name on the list and we ran a quick errand (they said this would be OK). We were back in about 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, she was still on the first kid with no end in sight. We waited an additional 20 minutes or so and still, she was on the first kid. Brayden was getting fussy, hungry and tired of having to sit still, so we gave up and left. Along the way, I did ask if they took appointments...No unless you are a member of their VIP club.

Then a friend at work told me about a place in Durham that she had taken her twin boys to last weekend. Peek-a-do is another kid friendly hair salon, but they take appointments! I called on Saturday afternoon and was able to get an appointment for late Sunday afternoon. Perfect!! From the moment we walked in, I knew that we were in a much better place! They had a train table, lots of toys and wide open space for Brayden to roam around in while we were waiting (we got there about 20 minutes early).

When it was Brayden's turn, he got to sit in an old Jeep and play with trains, watch a Dora video, all while getting his hair cut. I was also feeding him snacks the whole time too!

Sitting in his jeep
Mommy & Miss Tasha discussing what should be done.
Miss Tasha was great with him and Brayden was perfect the whole time.

The very first cut!!

He even let her use the buzzers on his neck and around his ears!

It was a very relaxing comfortable experience and we will definitely be going back to Peek-a-do's for future hair cuts! It was well worth the 15 minute ride to Durham :)

The finished product! What a HANDSOME little boy! He looks SO much older now!
The good news is that there is still a little bit of curl in the back and Miss Tasha said that since some of the weight is gone now, his hair might curl a little more than before :)
