Fun Weekend (and developmental update)

This was weekend was lots of fun. We woke up Saturday morning to a beautiful light snow. It was just enough to cover the ground but didn't mess with the roads! This was my kind of snow!!

I actually got up and cooked breakfast for Brayden & I (Matt chose to sleep in). We had eggs, grits, and toast. Brayden gobbled it up and was ready for more!

Eating grits and eggs with a fork.

Mid-morning, I went to a baby shower for a church friend while Matt & Brayden stayed at home & played.

Snack time with Daddy
On Sunday, my parents came to spend the night. Daycare was closed on Monday for a teacher workday so they kept Brayden for us. They had lots of fun I am sure and my dad taught Brayden how to Luge (you know, since the Olympics are happening right now and all).

******************************************************************************************
Brayden has gotten really good the past week or so at feeding himself lots with a spoon/fork. Sunday he ate 2 bowls of oatmeal all by himself! He still gets frustrated after a little while, but over all is doing excellent.

His vocabulary is also starting to really expand. He is very clearly saying "bye bye" and "hi". He is also saying "buh" (bear and/or book), "ju" (juice), "oww" (out), and "uhh" (up). He can make several animal sounds including "moo" for a cow, growl for a dog, "meoo" for a cat (when the mood strikes), "baa" for a sheep, and "raa" for a lion. I think he is also really trying to say Buckaroo (or something like that) as well. Brayden is completely obsessed with Buckaroo and luckily Buckaroo tolerates Brayden for the most part. He will allow supervised rubbing and minimal chasing as well. Brayden enjoys feeding the cat and knows where his food is stored.

He knows lots of body parts (ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs, hands, feet, hair) and where his hat and coat go. He likes to stomp his feet and wash his hands. As soon as he sees me at daycare, he runs to the sink & pushes up the arms on his shirt so that we can wash his (and my) hands. He also knows that he has to wash his hands before each meal at home. Brayden LOVES to take a bath and if you mention night-night or bath, he runs to the gate and waits so that he can go upstairs all the while waving and saying "bye-bye" to anyone nearby.

We are really enjoying watching Brayden grow up. I can't belive that he will be 16 months old this weekend! The time has really flown by! He is a joy to be around every day and we are so blessed to be his parents!
